Overview
Over the course of the semester we have covered a considerable amount of content ranging from civil war reconstruction, to the present day. I can confidently say that this experience has enriched my knowledge and understanding of U.S. History, which is evidenced by the work I have completed in this class. The following are assignments that I believe are good examples demonstrating what I have learned.

Reflection of the Course:
Overall I found the content of this class to be very informative. I especially enjoyed the in class lectures for the additional interesting information that they provided. They were what I looked forward to the most about this class, and I wish that we had more of them. The material we covered strengthened my understanding of events that I was familiar with, and introduced me to significant events in U.S. history that I didn't know as much about, notably: Reconstruction, western expansion, industrialization, urban development, the progression of U.S. foreign policy and imperialism, The Great Depression, and the U.S.' participation in many foreign conflicts.
It felt gratifying to read and learn about the complications and clash between the Democrats and Republicans during Reconstruction, the impact that industrialization had on society, the shift from isolationism to imperialism, the build up that lead to the economic collapse in The Great Depression, the arms race of the Cold War, and many others. Americans face a lot of societal problems and international conflicts today, but many of them we have encountered at least once before. While I am not a history major myself, I believe in the value of being informed on the topics we have covered in order to approach the problems we have today.
In addition to the subject matter, I was also able practice and improve the way I pace my work completion. This class had only three exams and a final presentation which left a great deal of pacing the preparation and studying up to the student. It was also much less forgiving in that the opportunities to complete graded work were few. Creating a routine and maintaining it through ups and downs was a challenge that has made me a better student in the end. I have room to improve, and I plan to use my experiences in this class to do even better in my future courses.
